If there is one word to describe my father it would be resourceful. As a kid, my dad would amaze me with the things he would create. It seemed to me he could fashion anything out of leftover and/or discarded materials. One time, I remember, he made my siblings and me a gum-ball machine out of an old jar and some carved wood. I was always in awe of the meticulous attention to detail. I believe this thrill of being innovative and inventive is something on which my dad thrives.
In this way, my dad and I are very much the same. For example, it is in my nature to make sure I'm not capable of making a particular item myself before I purchase something. I am constantly thinking: how can I remake this? What can I use in place of this? What's a more efficient way to do this? etc... So, when I saw these adorable shoes I decided I would make my own, and for much cheaper! Consequently, my Sunday project is to make my version of these:
